When learning Spanish, games often have a really positive effect. They can break up the monotony of grammar lessons, and while Spanish study games also further your learning, theyre often a lot of fun. You can pick up vocabulary that you wouldnt normally come across, and Spanish learning games often reinforce what you have already picked up.
A lot of Spanish games for kids are suitable for adult learners too, with a slight adjustment. While children may need their Spanish review games to be more interactive (for example, hangman is a great interactive Spanish game that whole classrooms can play together) adult learners can benefit from crosswords, or other more demanding, Spanish study games.
Reviewing Spanish and making it fun can be really easy, as a lot of Spanish practice games are similar to many games you might have played in English. To review the past tense for instance, there is a game known as I had a really busy day today where each player repeats the sentence of every previous player before adding an action of their own, and whoever cant remember what comes next, gets the order wrong, or makes a grammatical error when forming the past tense, loses.
There are many more games like this, often used to kill time when travelling, that also work really well as Spanish learning games for kids and adults alike. I spy is a great way to learn vocabulary, and alphabet games (each taking turns in naming for example an animal of every letter) help you reaffirm words or learn new ones, in a fun Spanish practice game.
Alternatively, using your existing board games but adapting them to practice your language can help you learn. Monopoly could easily be used to study Spanish, perhaps less suited to children, but it helps you practice numbers, the imperative tense (Go to Jail!) and negotiating skills, hopefully without causing too many arguments! Twister would be a fun Spanish learning game for kids, as they learn the basic colours, their derecha y izquierda, and balance!
As the internet is a brilliant resource for learning, you will also find many online Spanish games to help you learn. Word searches, timed quizzes or matching a picture to its correct vocabulary are all educational, interactive Spanish games that can be easily found on the internet.
