I love Rosetta Stone! I have it for Turkish, Spanish, Italian, and French, and I'm highly proficient in all four. No joke, my Italian professor thought that I was Italian when she first met me, or that it was a language spoken in my household. It won't get you "fluent," but it'll lay an incredible foundation. The pricing is relatively good...it looks like a big cost up front, but if you think about how much a language course at college costs ($1000+) for just ONE semester, it's nothing. It's just a really great way to learn a language. You never once see a translation, so you don't look at a dog and think, "Dog...hmm...I think that would be perro." You look at a dog and think "Perro." Plus, it helps you with accents, and there's no pressure because you pace yourself.
For more learned students (those who already have a foundation), I would recommend programs by Berlitz and Barron's.
Pimsleur is terrible - their programs use "parrot" techniques that try to get you to repeat simple phrases. Living Language is not outstanding, either.
