Continuing & Professional Education is unique because of the wide choice of different foreign languages on offer. Amongst them, Croatian (Serbian and Bosnian), Greek, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Turkish at various levels. In addition to these, we offer French, German, Italian and Spanish in eight different levels of entry to suit everybodys ability. If for personal or professional reasons you need to quickly improve your French or Spanish and we know this is the case for a large number of our students then please look at our Fast Track courses. They will give you a chance to do two levels in the same year. But if you prefer to take your time, you will enjoy the pace of a weekly class.

TThis intensive course is for you if you have attended one year of part-time study (or our Fast Track Beginners course) or you have rusty 'O' levels (GCSE) in Spanish. You will get ample opportunity to practise your Spanish conversational skills.

This intensive course is for you if you have attended two years of part-time studies or you have recently gained a GCSE in Spanish. You will actively engage in conversation and listening skills supported by audio/visual aids. Students from the Post-Beginners course are also welcome.

Intermediate Spanish Conversation
Level 3, 10 Credits.
This course is for you if you have attended 3 years of part-time study (or 4 years but you feel your speaking skills are still weak) and you can communicate in routine tasks requiring a direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. The course will enable you to further practise and consolidate your language skills and give you confidence in speaking Spanish.

This course will enable you to use a broader but still limited range of oral, aural and written language skills. Though the emphasis is on speaking you will also learn more grammatical structures and sentence pattern, which are essential for further progression in Spanish.

Intermediate Spanish Stage C

This course will enable you to use a broader range of oral, aural and written language skills, sufficient to get by in Spanish speaking countries with some hesitations on topics concerned with everyday matters and express your view in writing in a more elaborate style. You will also further develop your understanding of the culture of Spanish speaking countries.

Higher Intermediate Spanish - Stage D
Level 4, 30 Credits.
This course will enable you to use a broad range of oral, aural and written language skills, sufficient to speak freely in Spanish about selected topics. You will also practise listening skills which will enable you to understand Spanish at news-reading speed. You will learn to understand most articles from the Spanish press and comment upon their content in spoken and written form. You will also further develop your understanding of the culture of Spanish speaking countries.

This course will enable you to further develop your oral, aural and written language in order to express yourself confidently on most general topics, without much conspicuous searching for words and using some complex sentence forms to do so. You will consolidate and expand your understanding of the structure of the language and the culture of Spanish speaking countries.

Advanced Spanish Stage F
Level 4, 30 Credits.
This course will enable you to further develop your oral, aural and written language in order to express yourself fluently and almost effortlessly by selecting adequate complex sentence forms to do so. You will further consolidate and expand your understanding of the structure of Spanish by analysing and discussing cultural, social and political issues pertaining to Spanish speaking countries. The emphasis of the course is on speaking and in class you will get ample opportunity to practise your conversational skills through pair-work and group exercises; you will listen to authentic audio/video tapes; you will read newspaper texts and complete exercises, which will enhance your vocabulary and your knowledge of grammar.
